Abstract

Librarians and archivists who work in museums live a kind of double life. On the one hand, we consider ourselves information professionals: we belong to organizations such as SAA, ALA, SLA, or ARLIS, and we adhere to archival and library standards and ethics. On the other hand, museum departments operate within an organizational structure that is very different from a library, with dissimilar priorities and a unique institutional culture.
