Abstract

The effect of Nb content on hot ductility was investigated under various thermal cycles. Improvement was attained by adoption of a thermal cycle corresponding to hot charging of ingot or slab and decrease of N content or the addition of Ti. The relation between hot ductility and hot deformation mechanisms such as dynamic recrystallization or grain boundary sliding is discussed.
