HUMAN BEING, CAPITALISM AND NATURE Summary of scientific production on ecosocialism in Brazil

Abstract

Science today points out that climate change has occurred on unprecedented scales and, without decisive action, the costs of these environmental impacts will become more expensive and costly to life on the planet. Ecosocialism emerges as an energetic alternative to the root of environmental problems, which reflect an economic, social and cultural model of oppression with nature, capitalism. The ecosocialist alternative is a strategic proposal that results in convergences between ecological reflections and socialist reflection, as a practical and theoretical current, such as international ecosocialist movements, such as forums, congresses and promotion of scientific knowledge on the subject. This work presents an analytical synthesis of scientific production on ecosocialism in dissertations and postgraduate theses in Brazil. The work uses the construction of a Qualitative Evidence Synthesis (SEQ) as a method. The selection and refinement of the review comprised three stages: search, selection and inclusion of works, based on the database available in the CAPES Theses and Dissertations Catalog. The eight included works were tabulated using SEQ, using six synthesis elements: (1) author and year; (2) title and type of research; (3) objective of the work; (4) methodology; (5) results; (6) final considerations. Ecosocialism is increasingly present in social movements, providing the basis for socio-environmental actions, within a social basis for a common good, which is the protection of nature. When looking even deeper into the publications of dissertations and theses, it is seen that of the 14 works reviewed, they generated central themes such as: Emancipation and Criticism of Capitalism; Ecosocialism and Marxism; Socio-environmental Justice in Mining; Social Movements and Political Participation; Critical and Transformative Environmental Education; Thoughts by Michel Löwy.
