Abstract

In the Amazon, with the encouragement of colonization programs there was extensive and diverse damage to environmental resources, especially the municipalities of the state of Rondônia, where BR-364 provided greater socio-environmental influence. The objective of the present work was to characterize the Mororó river basin in the city of Jaru-RO in terms of land use and occupation from 1975 to 2018. The Mororó river watershed underwent several alteration processes vegetation cover since the 1970s early colonization of the region. These changes led to a loss of 66.94% forest, causing several problems of loss of water quantity and quality, siltation of the rivers among others. The multitemporal analysis of land cover verified the great rate of deforestation in the basin region since colonization (1975) until recently (2018) and thus reducing the environmental quality of the natural resources of this location.
