Abstract

Pathological examinaon was performed on prostac tumors in two dogs:  Case 1: Male Golden Retriever, 9 years old  Case 2: Male Mongrel, 11 years old In Case 1, the tumor consisted of round to ellipsoid cells resembling prostac epithelium that proliferated in sheets and displayed numerous mitoc figures. In Case 2, the tumor comprised atypical epithelial cells showing intra-acinar proliferaon. Immunohistochemical staining using an anbody against human prostate-specific angen revealed that:  Most tumor cells in Case 1 were negave for this angen.  Most tumor cells in Case 2 were posive. Electron microscopy of Case 1 showed large, atypical nuclei in the tumor cells, with a mix of cells lacking organelles and cells containing abundant organelles. Acinar structures were absent. In Case 2, the tumor cells formed small acini and contained free ribosomes and secretory granules, but other organelles were sparse. Based on these findings:  Case 1 was diagnosed as syncyal prostac carcinoma.  Case 2 was diagnosed as intra-alveolar proliferave prostac carcinoma
