Abstract

The purpose of the work was to analyze different narratives that characterize the teaching process of the university professor within a perspective of the didactic transposition. The research, of exploratory type, included the application of the life history, as a tool of qualitative methodology for the generation of data, to a teaching sample of three regional universities of Chile. This was done in three areas of professional training: experimental sciences, social sciences and health sciences. The results, although they revealed a differentiated understanding of the use of didactic elements in teaching, according to the disciplinary area, indicate that teachers lack a theoretical justification about their potential usefulness in teaching. Based on the results of the study, it is concluded that there is a cultural reproduction of professional knowledge during the development of the didactic task.
