Abstract

In this study, a new controlled switching approach is proposed. This method is applied tothe controlled closing of high voltage uncompensated transmission lines. The new approach is adeveloped version of conventional zero-crossing controlled switching approach. Performance ofthe new approach is evaluated and compared with the conventional controlled switching approach, using the electro-magnetic transients program. The results of simulation studies confirm the advantages of new approach over existing methods. ©The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2013.
