Abstract
The flow curves of gaseous fluidized beds were determined by a concentric cylinder viscometer. For stable systems in which the structure did not change during the measurements the flow curves could be described by Sinushyperbolicus-functions. The function of the rate of shear vs. shearing stress was calculated from these and gave also sinushyperbolicus-functions. The constants of these functions could quantitatively be related to the diameter of the particles and the gas velocity, and be explained by Eyring's rate theory. The dependence of the flow properties of fluidized beds of the particle concentration was determined by X-ray absorption. © 1961.
