Abstract

The evolution of technology has had a profound impact on education in the 21st century. This era has introduced a variety of innovative concepts into the classroom, including multimodal instruction. The present study aimed to assess the utilization and effectiveness of a multimodal genre-based approach in enhancing students' language proficiency. The evaluation was based on Aveyard's (2010) theory, drawing upon various information sources such as best practice documents from English teachers, digital interviews, and journal research articles. The findings of the review revealed that the characteristics, advantages, and strategies for teaching English using a multimodal genre-based approach significantly vary based on educators' readiness and capabilities to design teaching and learning activities. The study also indicated that implementing a multimodal genre-based approach to teaching English in schools can inspire students to engage in learning and enhance their language skills. This research underscores the applicability of a multimodal genre-based approach in English language classrooms.
