Researchers are the main instrument that plays a role in the entire process of research activities, from determining the focus of research, collecting data, analyzing data to making conclusions or verification. Data were collected using test instruments and interview techniques. Based on the results of the discussion above regarding the epistemological obstacles experienced by students on the topic of proportion, there are several epistemological obstacles including obstacles to understanding concepts, obstacles to using problem solving procedures, and obstacles to problem solving operational techniques.
