Abstract
The aim of the paper is to discussthe importance of school (self-) evaluation capacitybuilding within quality assurance systemin education in Slovenia. The research is focusedon self-evaluation training program in 245 educationalinstitutions. The results demonstrate itsimportance and pinpoints several challenges,i.e.: “how to build organizational (leaders’)evaluation capacity”, “learning transfer in practice”,and “how to choose among various evaluationcapacity building strategies”. Building uponempirical findings, the paper suggests that thetraining as a sole strategy for capacity buildingdoes not suffice in the competitive, quality-driveneducational context. Correspondingly, the modelof self-evaluation capacity building for schools ispresented and discussed.
