Simulación en el aprendizaje de odontología.

Abstract

Introduction: one of the tools that have allowed the dental student to gradually integrate into the «new normality post COVID-19 pandemic» by acquiring the clinical competencies and psychomotor skills necessary for better performance in front of the patient was undoubtedly simulation. Objective: to carry out a systematic review of the subject of dentistry and simulation. Development: clinical simulation has turned out to be an educational tool with an innovative methodology based on a constructivist teaching model, where knowledge is not discovered, but constructed. As a result, the dental student participates actively in the learning process, being more interactive and based on the vision of patient safety, by performing in a safe and controlled manner a practice very similar to reality, which contributes to the acquisition of competencies, skills and knowledge. Conclusion: the use of information and communication technologies requires training and updating processes, which must be guaranteed with equipment and connectivity, being the use of simulators a great alternative for the development of procedural and attitudinal competences.
