Abstract

This article examines the interaction between financial management and leverage using latent topic modeling to identify key trends in the scientific literature. By analyzing 1,285 research papers, it highlights theories such as hierarchy and agency, which explain how firms manage their debt to optimize resources and maintain control. It also explores specific cases of leverage in emerging markets, financing strategies in SMEs, and their role in financial sustainability. The findings suggest that a balanced approach adapted to the business context can maximize benefits and mitigate risks, highlighting the importance of innovations such as crowdfunding and analytical methodologies. Finally, leverage is positioned not only as an economic tool, but also as a key mechanism for sustainable business development.Este artículo examina la interacción entre gestión financiera y apalancamiento, utilizando modelado de tópicos latentes para identificar tendencias clave en la literatura científica. Mediante el análisis de 1,285 investigaciones, se destacan teorías como la jerarquía y la agencia, que explican cómo las empresas gestionan su deuda para optimizar recursos y mantener el control. Asimismo, se exploran casos específicos de apalancamiento en mercados emergentes, estrategias de financiación en PYMES, y su papel en la sostenibilidad financiera. Los hallazgos sugieren que un enfoque equilibrado y adaptado al contexto empresarial puede maximizar beneficios y mitigar riesgos, destacando la importancia de innovaciones como crowdfunding y metodologías analíticas. Finalmente, el apalancamiento se posiciona no solo como herramienta económica, sino también como un mecanismo clave para el desarrollo empresarial sostenible.
