Abstract
Levels of dehydration vary between players from the same team, and it can affect performance when this value exceeds 1%; therefore, the quantification of weight loss is a necessary tool to optimise fluid replacement strategies. The objective of this study was to determine the level of dehydration in professional futsal players after having played 3 official matches (22-26° C and 32.33-42.33% relative humidity). Before and after matches, 3 goalkeepers, 5 defenders and 6 forwards from ElPozo Murcia Fútbol Sala were weighed without clothes. Weight loss was significant in two matches (p⩽0,05), and resulted in an average loss of 1.36±0.76% for goalkepperes, 0.56±1.04% for defenders, and 1.23±1.1% for forwards. Both goalkeppers and forwards finished the matches with levels of dehydration that can decrease performance, while defenders remained in euhydration. ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR
