Abstract

INTRODUCTION. Recently, researchers from different areas have shown an increased interest in the study of digital leisure. This article aims to recognize the dynamics of digital leisure that youngsters with social difficulties put into practice in their free time. We are trying to respond, in an educational sense, which are those needs that are observed by professionals and by protagonists of this collective. METHOD. We have implemented a qualitative methodological approach articulated in a total of twenty one in-depth interviews to a group of participants composed of twenty one youngsters with social difficulties and twenty one social workers from different social and educational programs. The verbatim transcript of the interviews was subjected to treatment ATLAS.ti.7 computer program that gave us the interpretation of data to give meaning to the actual situation under study. RESULTS. As a The results show the characteristics of this group regarding to their digital leisure practices as well as all their set of activities, social values and anti-values that virtual technology makes available to young people belonging to these vulnerable groups. Besides, these findings other areas emerge which offer educational opportunities such as the participant's perspective, their daily leisure that this group shares throughout the network. DISCUSSION. It highlights the need to implement an education system for digital leisure arbitrated from models of educational intervention designed specifically for working with vulnerable young people excelling, among other strategies, those that account for the participation and opinions of the protagonists of educational programs; the young ones.
