Abstract
Genome discovery was a remarkable step in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and as it concerns human life, it is necessary to discuss it in regard to Islamic law. Therefore, this research examines human genome and genetic therapy from the Islamic point of view. The most significant results were the importance of participation by the Islamic nation in scientific development and cultural advancement and the importance of a comprehensive psychological evaluation for candidates of human genome mapping, to avoid undesired psychological side-effects. It is necessary, for the protection of Islam in/by this generation, not to manipulate any reproductive-related genes that will affect offspring. Genetic therapy is considered the same as any other medical treatment, except for reproductive-related genes. As sexual intercourse is a means of gene transfer to the zygote (fertilized egg) from the sperm cells, not the other way around, genetic transfer to the embryo is allowed, unlike reproductive gene transfer between parents. Genetic therapy must follow certain restrictions to avoid manipulation and therefore violation of Islamic interests in life, reproduction and finance.
