Abstract

Translation involves accurately rendering a finished product faithful to the author's departure point. To do this, the translator must truly penetrate the text. Invention in French should be used strictly to refer to something newly contrived or discovered, usually a mechanical device. The meaning of invention 'to discover' has virtually faded from modern languages since its original Latin usage has died. T. Lamb
