The linear sweep voltammetric study of Ni in molten LiF-NaF-KF eutectic was carried out at temperatures between 470 and 540°C by using an indicator electrode made of Pt bead. The observed reduction wave for Ni(II) was considered due to the reversible two-electron reduction, Ni(II)→ Ni(O). Nickel(II) can be determined in molten LiF-NaFKF eutectic with the detection limit of 4 x 10-4 mol/dm3. The diffusion coefficient of Ni(II) was found to be 5 x 10-6 cm2/s at 500°C and its activation energy, (5.86 ± 1.67)x 10-4 J/mol. © 1987 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
