Abstract

The article disuses the issue of the adoption of the open access models popular with journals by the publishers and university presses for publishing monographs to address the question of cost. Topics discussed include the efforts of the community-based organizations like Knowledge Unlatched to use the model that permits university presses to publish monographs; high cost for publishing monographs; and a Monograph Costing Tool which helps publishers to study costs involved in publishing.
