Abstract
“War on terrorism”: A moral crusade under the critical scrutiny of the social sciences – This article reviews recent sociological and political science research dedicated to the fight against international and French terrorism. It insists on the most innovative paradigms, discusses the unifying concept of securitization, the limited contributions of radical socio criminology about metaphoric “war on terrorism”, and shows the fertility of pragmatic sociology approaches in this field. It then reviews the strengths and weaknesses of strategic thinking in the field and shows how police and judicial systems are being recomposed in order to emancipate themselves from the separation of powers involved by the observance of the traditional rule of law.
