Abstract
Obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases and cancer are all contemporary illnesses that concern global health. The treatment of these diseases’ costs enormously, whether for the development, the purchase of drugs or for the care of patients. Mushrooms have been used since millennium and still used as food and in traditional in different cultures. The objective of this chapter is to provide a complete picture about the potential medicinal applications of mushrooms and to address the beneficial their effects in the prevention and treatment of obesity and other chronic diseases.
