Abstract
To engage college students with electromagnetic waves and quantum physics, connecting course content to their everyday lives and to promote "photonics awareness,"a 12-week group research project on a photonics-based Nobel prize was developed. The project uses an inquiry-based approach and is designed as a five-part activity, each with a specific scaffold helping guide students regulate their inquiry. © The Authors.
