Abstract

High-voltage dc (HV dc) power supplies using voltage multiplier circuits can easily be built and used for many practical applications. The novel design proposed in this paper uses two separate cascaded Greinacher circuits connected in phase opposition to improve the dc output quality. Both the simulated and measured results show that if the load impedance is high enough, the power supply gives ripples of less than 2%. An analysis to quantify the ripple in the proposed two-phase system is provided. © 2006 IEEE.
