Abstract

Homeless youth are a high-risk population that experiences a range of adverse sexual health outcomes. This chapter provides an overview of the sexual health of homeless youth in Canada, describing the various factors that contribute to sexual risk behaviours and poor sexual health outcomes and offering suggestions for future research and clinical interventions. This chapter first reviews the prevalence of sexual risk behaviours and poor sexual health outcomes among homeless youth. It then examines the various determinants of sexual risk behaviours and highlights the structural barriers influencing poor sexual health in this population.
