Abstract
The concept of high energy synchrotron radiation is discussed from various viewpoints; that of the source, scattering cross sections, and diffraction properties of nearly perfect crystals. The effects of crystal defects are described, and bending is introduced as a special case of crystal distortion. The enhancement of the integrated reflectivity due to bending is explained in the terms of the lamellar crystal model, and the focusing errors due to a finite thickness of the crystal are calculated. Different focusing geometries are described, and examples of actual constructions are given. © 1994.
