Abstract
It is said that history is written by the winners, but it has been more recently said (by Matt Welch 2012) that the history of journalism’s digital transformation is being written by the losers. That is, its chroniclers are those from backgrounds in big media and thus those most likely to fall victim to that which they are chronicling. The winners—the people formerly known as the audience—watch while Rome burns.
