Abstract
As a result of the high rates of physical inactivity among young people indicated by some organizations such as the WHO, the present study arises, which is based on the practice of Physical and Sports Activity in the leisure time of adolescents and aimed to analyze the Influence of the Physical Education teacher in the Secondary Education stage in terms of the affinity that their students present towards their subject and in the interest associated with the practice of physical-sports activities at the extracurricular level in their leisure time. This is a descriptive study, with a retrospective approach, which used a quantitative and qualitative methodology for its development, whose sample was made up of a total of 50 first-year students from different university degrees. For the collection of information, two closed questionnaires and two open questions were used that collect the experiences and memories that students have of their Physical Education classes. The analysis of the quantitative data was carried out with the statistical program SPSS version 26 for Windows and for the qualitative analysis the absolute frequencies were counted inductively. The main findings reflected, on the one hand, that teachers tend to work mainly on collective and individual sports and traditional games, compared to physical condition, body language and communication content and, on the other hand, that the perception and Student participation in Physical Education classes can affect their motivation towards Physical Activity and Sports in general. These results suggest the importance of the role of Physical Education teachers in the transfer of sports to today's society.
