Abstract

The restoring force charaderistics of steel frames can be decomposed into the skeleton part, the Bauschinger part and the elastically unloaded part. Hiしherto,洫 most cases , the Bauschinge rpart has been disregarde idn evaluahllg the seismic resistance of steel structures , and the contribution of 亡he Bauschinger effect to 出 e seism 孟c resistance has been lef tunknown . In this paper , the shape of the Bauschinge rpart in the restoring forc echaracteristics of stee 呈 mQment frame sls made clear experimen 亡aLly , and the influenc oef the Ba ロschinger effect on the seismic resistance of steel moment frames is c [arified through dynamic response analyses allowing for the Bauschingef effect . It is demQnstrated出 at the influenc eof the Bauschinge reffect is remarkable and the energy absorption capacity of steel moment frames can be doubled by the Bauschinger effect, Key脚 rds :restoring for ccheara ‘teristi.sc, Bazasゐc加9艀 轟齪 , energy absorption caPa ‘it)’
