Abstract

A test Van de Graaff has been installed. By using the column of a KN-3000 HVEC machine, it was possible to achieve voltages above 5 MV. With this facility, accelerator tube tests have been made. It was found that after treating the tubes by a low voltage arc discharge the achieved gradient of 3 MV/m along the tubes was about 50% higher than in other presently used electrostatic accelerators. © 1984.
