Abstract

Ihis review study aims to: (1) provide an overview of development* of the educational research about the periodic table in sign languagues as a teaching resourse in Didactics of Experimental Sciences; and (2) establish, in the case specific of the Spanish Sign Language (LSE), the number of chemical elements that have a Sign collected in the lexicographical materials of this Language. After a systematized methology, 13 publications and 14 lexicographical materials were analyzed. 'Ihc results point that none of the 149 cataloged sign languages, nor the International Sign System, offering a full traslation of periodic table and chemical elements Signs not found in LSE dictionaries and LSE glossaries. Therefore, the quality of the teaching-learning process of the periodic table to deaf students is a concern.
