Abstract
With Reverse Logistics, institutions now have an important tool to improve solid waste control work. According to the National Solid Waste Policy (established by Law 12,305 of August 2, 2010), reverse logistics can be defined as an instrument of economic and social development characterized by a set of actions, procedures and means to enable the collection And the return of solid waste to the business sector, for reuse in its cycle or in other production cycles, or other environmentally appropriate final destination. The purpose of this study is to analyze the potential of reverse logistics and show their capacity and benefits in society and the environment. Thus, it was verified that every institution operates from the use of machines and equipment that has a useful life and at the end of this time needs to be discarded, reused or recycled, however, reuse is little used due to the new technologies that leaves Obsolete many of our consumer goods, recycling reaches few materials because it depends on the degree of transformation of their matter, so in all cities, there is a large amount of obsolete materials, end of life, stocked Or abandoned, without final destination, others with an inappropriate destination that, as a consequence, causes damage to the institution and to the environment. The data obtained in the study were useful to support future studies in the area. However, the need for more information on reverse logistics and sustainability became evident.
