Abstract

meso-HO2CCH(NH2)CH(NH2)CO2H (I) was N-alkylated by haloacetic acid, while attempts with d,l-HO2CCH(NH2)CH(NH2)CO2H were unsuccessful. I was treated with ClCH2CO2H at 80-90 Deg to give meso-HO2CCH[N(CH2CO2H)2]CH[N(CH2CO2H)2]CO2H di-Na salt and meso-HO2CCH(NHCH2CO2H)CH(NHCH2CO2H)CO2H di-Na salt. I and ICH2CO2H gave meso-HO2CCH(NHCH2CO2H)CH(NH2)CO2H. [on SciFinder (R)]
