Abstract
Resumo O presente artigo pretende, considerando a concepção ética do fi lósofo Peter Singer, analisar o comportamento humano em relação aos demais animais, com enfoque na exploração destes pelos homens, tentando responder às seguintes questões: se é moralmente aceitável restringir a nós, seres humanos, a preocupação com o respeito à vida e o interesse em não sofrer que possuem todos os seres sencientes, e se não estaríamos, considerando os princípios da universalidade e igualdade que devem reger os preceitos éticos, obrigados a rever nossa postura em relação aos animais não-humanos, expandindo nossa fronteira de moralidade, para nela incluir seus interesses. Em caso contrário, temos que nos reconhecer especistas. Palavras-chave: Especismo; ética; animais não-humanos. Abstract The present article intends, considering the ethical conception of the philosopher Peter Singer, to analyze the human behavior in relation to the other animals, with approach in the exploration of these by men, trying to answer to the following questions: if is morally acceptable to restrict to us, human beings, the concern with the respect to the life and the interest in not suffering, that all the sencients beings possess and if we would not be, considering the principles of the universality and equality that must conduct the ethical rules, obliged to review our position in relation to the not-human beings animals, expanding our border of morality, in order to include in it its interests. Otherwise, we would have to recognize us as especists.
