Abstract

Pseudobaeospora stevensii sp. nov. is described from cypress and redwood forests in northern California. Diagnostic features include dark brown basidiomes lacking violet colors, conspicuous cheilocystidia, clamp connections, and tissues that turn olive to grass green or bluish green in alkaline solution. Notes on type studies of several temperate North American species referable to Pseudobaeospora are provided.
