Abstract

The present study analyzes the affective-emotional and psychological state of a group of women victims of male violence who are refugees in a shelter and the potential of contemporary dance as a recovery resource. The participants were seven migrant women from Latin America, Eastern Europe and Africa aged 18 to 42. It deepens in the study of a case for whom a dancebased intervention plan is designed, implemented, and assessed. After implementation, changes were observed at the cognitive (emotional management), affective (strengthening self-concept and decrease of anxiety), and behavioral (gains in assertiveness and coping with problems) levels that contributed to improving her general well-being state. The program is presented as a valuable resource to help abused women and other vulnerable groups.
