Abstract
Increasing attention is being paid to the role of parents as sexuality educators in the light of growing HIV infection rates among school-going youth. This paper presents empirical evidence from one phase of a larger study which used qualitative methodology to evaluate the National Life-Skills and HIV/AIDS education programme implemented in three selected schools in the eThekwini region, KwaZulu-Natal. This paper deliberates on the perspectives of parents on the integration of sexuality programmes in schools. Recommendations are made for schools to be established as "one-stop care centres" and the inclusion of social workers in schools.
