La colligation : autre nom de la collocation grammaticale ou autre logique de la relation mutuelle entre syntaxe et sémantique ?

Abstract

Cet article discute de la notion de colligation et de ses rapports avec la collocation grammaticale. En faisant référence à Bally, Jespersen et Firth, il s’agit de souligner les différences entre collocation et colligation et de contextualiser ces différences dans les perspectives contemporaines en phraséologie. L’article s’intéresse également à quelques « incarnations » des unités collocationnelles ou/et colligationnelles : les cadres collocationnels d’A. Renouf et J. Sinclair, et les « motifs » grammaticaux. Ces derniers forment une catégorie dont l’article illustre la pertinence par un ensemble d’exemples, parmi lesquels certains motifs spécifiques du genre poétique, dont on souligne les fonctions intertextuelles.Colligation: Another Term for Grammatical Collocation or other Logic of Mutual Relationship between Syntax and Semantics?This article discusses the concept of colligation and its relationship with grammatical collocation. Referring to Bally, Jespersen and Firth, we highlight the differences between collocation and colligation and we contextualize these differences from the perspective of contemporary phraseology. The article also deals with several collocational / colligational units, like collocational frameworks (A. Renouf and J. Sinclair), and grammatical “motives”. We show the relevance of this latter category, by providing examples, including the intertextual dimension of some poetic motives.
