Abstract
he article presents a study which aims to examine the chronic bronchitic (CB) phenotype in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The study reveals that CB in patients having COPD is related with higher risk of exacerbations and with worse respiratory symptoms. It suggests that CB patients with COPD might require more directed therapy targeting smoking cessation and chronic mucus production to improve outcomes, improve quality of life and lessen risk.
