Abstract

One of the most important objectives of wireless network service providers is to make the traffic as uniform as possible in different sectors of the network. In this paper, we analyze the uniformity of the traffic in a WiMAX network with the aid of a forecasting methodology. Taking into account the high volume of data transferred in a wireless network and the requirement of real time, we propose a forecasting methodology based on data mining. The theoretical basis of the proposed method is explained in detail. Its implementation is highlighted by diagrams, which explain each step of the algorithm. The method is applied on real data and the obtained results are discussed. © 2013 Stolojescu-Crisan and Isar; licensee Springer.
