Abstract

A new correlating equation was derived from the standpoint of view where the slopes of boiling curve may be different between the lower heat flux region and the higher one, and corresponding to it the nucleation factor was proposed to express the condition of heating surface and its physical meaning was clarified. It was shown that this nucleation factor can be applicable to the whole region of heat flux and has the close relation to bubble population density. Numerical values of nucleation factor were evaluated for various heating surfaces used by many investigators.
