Abstract

The AA call attention to diastolic heart failure which occurs in 1/3 of all cases. Clinical manifestations and physical examination are not different from classic systolic heart failure. Although treatment is somewhat unclear we must consider verapamil, beta-blockers and enalapril as the drugs of choice. Positive inotropic drugs make the Syndrome Worse until the possibility of sudden death. Although prognostic is unknown, and it varies widely, it may be as high as 17.5% per year. In hypertensive, elderly patients or with ischemic heart disease without myocardial infarction the diagnosis must be formulated.
