Abstract

The discovery of REM sleep allowed dreaming to enter in the field of neurosciences. It is however very well admitted now that dreaming does not occur only during REM sleep and that dream recall are obtained from other sleep phases. Brain imaging techniques as well as the study of sleep and dream in neurological and sleep disorders allow a better understanding of dreaming.
