Abstract

The common somatic medical vision of the demented patients could lead to decreased relational investment and a lack of psychological approach of these frail subjects. As the role of a neuropsychological assessment for the diagnosis is well-established, this should not lead to a lack of a psychodynamic approach of the behavioral symptoms of the patients. Such a psychological approach could help to both interpret the behavioral symptoms according to the history of the patient, its identity, and to program the cares. Futhermore, it may be of value to implement interdisciplinarity and promising comprehensive studies.
