Lighting the user experience: A new perspective on studying the user experience in a lab that controls light color, temperature, and intensity

Abstract

The documents we create are often designed and read under one light color and condition, often an office or classroom. But actual users may use these documents in almost every light condition. UX specialists should help writers and designers to test their work in multiple lighting conditions to ensure maximum readability and usability. To address the lack of research in our field of light and color temperature, scholars at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock built a lab that allows researchers to test these factors, and to incorporate findings into their teaching on accessibility and user-experience design.
