Abstract
Background: Hemodialysis is one of the types of treatment for chronic kidney disease (CKD), a therapy that causes several limitations that end up affecting the quality of life of these patients. These have reduced functional capacity, muscle weakness and decreased quality of life. With these repercussions, physical exercise programs have been proposed for this population. However, there is no standardization regarding the prescription of intradialitic exercise programs. Aim: To identify different prescriptions of intradialitic resistance exercise and to verify its effectiveness for patients. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, carried out in the Scielo, PeDro, Bireme and Pubmed databases. Intervention articles were included, with a longitudinal study design, published between 2010 and 2020. Results: From a total of 1718 articles, 16 were selected for analysis and different types of resistance exercise prescription were identified. These varied in terms of frequency, intensity, time, type, and volume of exercise progression. It was also possible to observe the possible effects of intradialitic physical exercise, such as improved muscle strength, functional capacity and quality of life. Conclusion: The practice of intradialitic resistance exercise results in many benefits for its practitioners. It is recommended that this practice be performed in the first two hours of dialysis, for at least 30 minutes and 2-3 times a week.
