Abstract

We present a generic formulation of a generalized Lorenz-Mie theory for a particle illuminated by laser pulses (single pulses or train of pulses). The formulation is generic because the shape of the particle is arbitrary. The formulation is illustrated by examining a Rayleigh dipole (under circumstances allowing one to provide analytical derivations).
