Abstract
The workload is one of the important things that affect product yields, one of which is the tobacco processing industry which has several departments, one of which is the prebatch product area. This area has a total number of employees of 19 people. The initial survey showed that there was an imbalance between tobacco input to the prebatch process and output for each shift, resulting in a lot of waiting time and a lot of processes to go through and resulting in an piling up workload. The purpose of this study is to determine the workload borne by employees in the prebatch area. This study uses the Work Load Analysis (WLA) method to determine the standard working time, and workload and determine the optimal number of employees. The results showed that there were two overloaded activities, namely activity 6 of 220%, and activity 7 of 158% so there is a need for labor efficiency from the number of employees for the prebatch area, which was previously 19 people, down to as many as 16 employees needed
