Abstract

Communication strategies in family planning are summarized the field of family planning communication is defined theoretical aspects of human communication are described and the current status of family planning communication research is discussed along with suggestions for future research. A communication strategy is a plan or design for changing human behavior on a large-scale basis through the transfer of new ideas. It is believed that communication efforts for family planning goals would be much more effective if more attention were given to communication strategies. The classical diffusion model of family planning innovations is discussed along with the use of incentive programs and change agents (fieldworkers midwives aides).
