Abstract

Hepatozoon canis is a tick-borne protozoan parasite of WBC, muscular tissues, and parenchymal tissues. Hepatozoon canis infections are associated with muscular hyperesthesia, lumbar pain, emaciation, lethargy, anemia, and neutrophilic leukocytosis.
