Abstract
Oral contact dermatitis is an inflammatory reaction that is not common in patients but can be caused using certain toothpastes. As a result, patients experience pain, ulceration, erythema, burning sensation, vesicles and so on. Stannous fluoride is an inorganic compound used in some toothpastes for its antimicrobial, anti-hypersensitivity and anti-decay benefits, among others. We present a case series of 15 patients with similar types of oral lesions who all used toothpaste containing stannous fluoride, which suggested a potential association between the use of toothpaste containing stannous fluoride and oral dermatitis.
